Kribbeln im Bauch

We watched Claire and Rowan talking in front of the stable.

Gillian: “It’s almost painful to watch. Claire is in love, Rowan is in love — but somehow they just don’t come together.”

Jamie: “You’re right. Something needs to be done. And I already have an idea.”

Before I knew it, he was walking over to them.

Jamie: “I’d love to surprise Gillian with a romantic weekend at my parents’ cabin, but I can’t leave Meadowland. Could you two drive up there and prepare everything for me?”

Rowan: “No problem at all.”

Claire: “What a lovely idea. Of course we’ll do it.”

Jamie’s real plan was to lure Claire and Rowan to the cabin so they would spend the romantic weekend there. We prepared everything in advance. Just in case they decided to leave again, Jamie made sure Rowan’s car wouldn’t start — and there’s no phone signal up there anyway. At the cabin:

Rowan: “You said you loved the idea. Would you enjoy a romantic weekend with someone you love?”

Claire: “Seeing those two so in love really is contagious. Yes… I think I would.”

When they stepped inside, Jamie’s surprise was waiting for them.

Rowan: “Wow… this looks like a romantic dinner for us. Claire, may I?”

Claire: “Jamie! If he wants to play Cupid, let’s make him happy. Come on, Rowan — I’m hungry.”

With champagne and small bites, they sat by the open fireplace. The air between them was electric.

Rowan: “Claire, we need to talk. You haven’t been just my best friend for a long time now. My feelings for you are much stronger. I’m in love with you.”

Claire: “I know. My feelings have changed too. We’ve grown up… every time I see you, I get butterflies. But what if we lose our friendship?”

Rowan leaned closer and gently stroked her cheek.

Rowan: “That will never happen. Don’t overthink it. Let’s just enjoy this and see where it goes. I love you.”

The next morning, they tried to leave.

Rowan: “The car won’t start. Something’s leaking.”

Claire: “Jamie… haha! He really thought of everything. Then we’ll just stay. He’ll come get us eventually.”

The next day, Jamie picked them up. They acted completely normal — no obvious looks, no changes. I walked straight up to them.

Gillian: “So? How was the weekend? Anything new?”

Rowan: “Yes… quite a bit. My car is broken. Something’s leaking. And Claire is in love with me and wants to date me. Also, the carpet in the cabin really doesn’t match the color scheme…”

Claire: “It was lovely — though one more day and we would’ve starved. Just kidding. It was wonderful. Thank you!”

I think we achieved exactly what we wanted. It was finally out — from both sides. And if they want to take it slow… so what?
