Merkwürdige Entdeckungen rund um Meadowland sorgen für Unruhe: ein geheimnisvolles Anwesen, ein seltsamer Kryptidenjäger – und plötzlich werden auch noch Bären in der Nähe gesichtet.
While out riding with Field, I discovered some very strange things. A half-collapsed, abandoned house – surrounded by a tall barbed-wire fence. Several aggressive dogs were guarding it, growling and baring their teeth when I approached the fence. What kind of property could this be, so heavily guarded? A little further on, I came across a man camping by a fire pit.
Gillian: “Hi, I’m Gillian from Meadowland Ranch. What are you doing here? This land belongs to Meadowland.”
Man: “My name is Scott Buttergood. I’m a cryptid hunter, and I’m looking for jackalopes. That’s why I’m camping here for a while.”
Cryptid… what now? And what on earth were jackalopes? This guy had to be completely crazy. I decided it would be best to get out of there quickly. I rode on to the Jorvik Rangers’ cabin. One of the rangers informed me:
Ranger: “There have been bear sightings east of Meadowland. We’ve already reported it, but you should be careful and bring the animals into the stables at night.”
Gillian: “I’ll ride back right away and take care of it.”
Back at the ranch, I spoke to Josh immediately.
Gillian: “Josh, we have a problem. Actually… several problems. Bears have been spotted near the ranch. And on top of that, there’s some crypto-thing hunter camping out there!”
Josh: “The crypto nut is Scott – a weirdo. Forget about him. But the bears really worry me. Let’s ride out and see if we can spot anything.”
We rode into the area east of the ranch, and from a distance we actually saw something.
Gillian: “The ranger was right… bears!”
Josh: “We’d better get out of here, missy.”
Rangers from Mistfall and Redwood Point arrived in Firgrove and set up a camp near Meadowland. Rowan Allaway – one of the rangers – told us they would patrol constantly and had set up traps. They were experienced and confident they could capture the bears quickly and release them elsewhere. The rangers kept their word. After just two days, the whole scare was over. They had captured five bears and were now taking them to a rescue station on the mainland. There, the bears would be examined and later released into a specially designated area.
