Nach ihrer Rückkehr nach Meadowland will Gillian endlich Klarheit schaffen. Doch was sie dort erwartet, trifft sie unvorbereitet – und lässt alles noch schmerzhafter werden.
Jamie had the day off and drove to Fort Pinta. At the market, someone called out to him — it was Greta Diamondwave.
Greta: “Hello, handsome. Long time no see. What are you doing here?”
Jamie: “Day off. Thought I’d see what’s going on. Want to grab a coffee?”
They sat together and talked.
Greta: “Do you have a girlfriend? Or maybe even a wife?”
Jamie: “No wife. And a girlfriend… for a very brief moment, I thought I had one. But no.”
Jamie couldn’t stop thinking about Gillian. Greta was beautiful and charming. Even if the age difference was noticeable… he wouldn’t say no to a little flirting. After all, Gillian had lied about Munich and was now supposedly enjoying herself in Moorland. What he didn’t know: Gillian had ended her time away and decided to return to Meadowland. She had thought everything through. Moorland had given her clarity — and strength to finally clear up the chaos. When she arrived, Claire welcomed her. But Greta was there too.
Greta: “Hi, Gillian!”
Gillian: “I’m so happy to be home… wait. What is Greta doing here?”
Claire: “She’s here almost every day, visiting Jamie. They’ve been flirting nonstop… it’s awkward. I’m glad you’re back. Josh seems really down. Please talk to him.”
Those words hit harder than expected. Gillian needed a moment before facing anyone. After calming down, she went to find Josh.
Gillian: “I found your emails in my spam folder. I read them all. I thought you had left everything behind.”
Josh: “In Wyoming you felt just as close as you do here. I was disappointed too. But now I know where you were… and with whom.”
Moorland. The blacksmith. He had seen her there — with Justin. Everything was spiraling out of control. One believed she had an affair. The other seemed to have moved on. In the stable—
Greta: “Nice to see you back.”
Jamie: “Gillian?!”
Seeing Jamie with Greta felt like a stab to the heart. If only she had stayed. If only she had told him what he truly meant to her. Later that evening, she found Jamie alone.
Gillian: “You seem happy with Greta.”
Jamie: “I was happy once. Deeply. But the woman I wanted didn’t choose me. With Greta, I’m just enjoying the moment. Maybe I’ll go to the US for a while.”
That was too much. Gillian went back to the house — and cried.
