Während Gillian versucht, einem kleinen Reitstall aus finanziellen Schwierigkeiten zu helfen, trifft sie eine spontane Entscheidung – und erfüllt sich damit einen Traum, der ihr Leben verändern könnte.
I had offered Thomas Moorland to take a look at his finances. Maybe I could help him. Together, we went through the paperwork and actually managed to find a few ways to cut costs here and there. Still, some of the horses would have to be sold. We walked over to the stables. Field was standing in one of the stalls, and suddenly something burst out of me.
Gillian: “Thomas, I’ve been thinking. As you know, I can’t afford to keep a horse in Munich. But I would still love to buy Field – provided I can board him here.”
Had I really just said that? The thought had been circling in my mind for a while, but it had only been a thought… until now.
Thomas: “That would be wonderful, Gillian. I promise to give you a fair price, and we’ll continue to take good care of old Field.”
Thomas looked genuinely happy. Seeing him like that, I felt my own heart leap with joy. I had just fulfilled my long-held dream of owning a horse – and such a treasure as Field! I would use every vacation day and every opportunity to be with him. Over the next few days, I spent a lot of time with Field. We went on rides all across the island, and I met many new people. It was a wonderful time that passed far too quickly. What would happen to Uncle George’s ranch had completely slipped my mind. And before I knew it, the day of my departure had arrived. Justin took me to the ferry with Field. Even though saying goodbye to Jorvik – and especially to Field – was incredibly hard, I was also looking forward to my cozy apartment in Munich. To my friends, and even a little bit to my job. And I knew that, at the latest when it came time to sell the ranch, I would return.
