Josh persuades Gillian to join an evening full of line dancing, new encounters and unexpectedly good spirits. A simple evening on Meadowland becomes something special.
Josh caught up with me just as I was heading to the arena.
Josh: “Hey Missy! It’s line dance tonight. You’re coming… right?”
Gillian: “No time, Josh. Maybe another day.”
Josh: “What could be so important that you’re skipping line dance?”
Gillian: “I have to do the bookkeeping — and besides… I can’t line dance.”
He dragged me straight to the dance floor and immediately started dancing.
Josh: “It’s easy. Look, I’ll show you.”
Gillian: “I can’t do that. I look ridiculous!”
I tried, tripped over my own feet, and fell.
Gillian: “See?! I fell. I can’t do this!”
Josh: “Missy… get up. We’ve got this. By tonight, you’ll dance the line like a pro.”
I went back to my work, practicing the steps on the side.
Gillian: “1-2-3-4… see? Easy, Josh! I’ll definitely be a pro by tonight. They’re all going to laugh at me.”
A cow watching me confirmed this with a loud “Moo.” That evening finally came — and it was so much fun. At first, I danced my very own version of the line, but with so many others around me, I quickly found the rhythm. Besides the Meadowland team, lots of other people showed up, and I made some great new connections. Sadly, the evening ended far too quickly, and Josh walked me home.
Josh: “So, Missy — how did you like the evening? You danced like you’d never done anything else.”
Gillian: “Josh, it was wonderful. I had so much fun — and you were right. Line dance isn’t that hard after all.”
After he left, I grabbed my cat.
Gillian: “Alright, little one — bedtime. We’re up early tomorrow.”
A fun evening with great people came to an end. I hadn’t laughed that much in a long time — and the guests seemed to love it too. We should do this more often. But now… off to bed. The alarm goes off at 5 a.m
